Sibshop


A program just for brothers and sisters
of children with any type of disability
What are Sibshops?
Sibshops are not therapy, group or otherwise, although their effect many be therapeutic for some children. Sibshops acknowledge that being the brother or sister of a person with special needs is sometimes a good thing, sometimes a not-so-good thing, and sometimes somewhere in between. Consequently, while Sibshop facilitators always keep an eye open for participants who may need additional services the Sibshop model takes a wellness approach. Sibshop are a lively mixture of new games, discussion and activities.
This program is just for brothers and sisters ages 6 to 13 of children with any type of disability.
At the Sibshop brothers and sisters will:
- Meet other brothers and sisters
- Talk about their brothers and sisters and others who know what it's like to have a sibling with developmental and physical disabilities.
- Learn more about their brother and/or sister's challenges.
- Engage in several arts and crafts activities to allow for some time to express themselves.
- Children will be able to express their feelings in a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere.
Meeting Schedule:
The Second Saturday of every month 10:00am - 12:00pm
