STUDENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The Student Assistance Program provides services throughout the school year to seven school districts and one local private school.   These include Boyertown, Pottsgrove, Pottstown, Perkiomen Valley, Spring-ford, Owen J. Roberts, St. Pius and Upper Perkiomen Valley.  The S.A.P. primarily focuses on middle and high school students.  The S.A.P. liaison works closely with a team from each school to identify students at risk for mental health/or drug and alcohol problems.   An assessment is conducted by the S.A.P. liaison with the student and parents/guardian to determine which services are needed.  The S.A.P. liason also facilitates groups on such topics as self-esteem, conflict resolution, changing, etc.. The services recommended include:

          *   Individual and Family Counseling
          *   Wrap-Around Services
          *   Hospitalization

WRAP-AROUND PROGRAM

The Wrap-Around Program is offered to children and young adults age 21 and younger.  Individuals referred to this program are initially screened by a mental health case manager and typically require involvement with a behavior specialist, mobile therapist and the therapeutic staff.  Service is provided in school, at the child's residence, or a community setting.  The Administrative functions of both programs are located in the Spring City satellite office and operate 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Wrap-Around Services also provide assistance evenings and weekends.
